Grodan, the originator of horticultural stonewool, is known the world over as the premier rockwool producer. There is no rockwool on the planet that tops Grodan in terms of consistency and uniformity. Many manufacturers who do not heat the volcanic rock up to the proper temperatures produce inconsistent products that vary in terms of capillarity and moisture retention as well as pH stability. Such is not the case with rockwool produced at the Grodan facilities in Denmark.
Grow Cubes are one of the newest introductions in Grodan's line of rockwool. These cubes provide increased drainage and air space as compared to compressed blocks of rockwool, but maintain the immense water holding capacity not found in expanded clay or perlite media. Pots are filled with the Grow Cubes (little nuggets the size of playing dice) and easily accommodate stacking of blocks on top of the cubes.
